"A Story of a women - her life, her struggle and her success."

Devika Banerjee was born in Kolkata in a middle class family. Her father was a clerk in one of the local companies and mother was a housewife. Devika was their only daughter. She was born after 5 years after the marriage.

Family was very happy when Devika's mother conceived after 5 years. It was a big day for the family when Devika was but not for her mother. She was born as a still child. She was declared dead by the doctor. Baby didn't cry neither she moved.

Devika's mother was shocked and didn't know how to face the family. Her only child born after 5 years and she is dead? No that can't happen. Doctors tried to wake up the child. After half an hour of struggle Devika was back to life and her mother heaved a sigh of relief. She was called the miracle baby in the hospital and it was very shocking for the doctors too. It was news everywhere "Dead child comes back to life."

Years passed by Devika was brilliant in her studies and passed her board exams with flying colours. She decided to take science as an option and go ahead with medicine. But due to high donation in colleges Devika's father was unable to fulfill her wishes. Devika being only child was most pampered and all her wishes were kept on priority and was fulfilled but this wish was impossible for her father. Her father felt this to be his biggest failure of life and he was very guilty as he couldn't provide happiness to his family, couldn't get them luxury. They were living hand to mouth and now it affected Devika's wishes too. He couldn't stand this guilt and committed suicide. Devika had no option but to earn and continue her studies.

Devika, completed her graduation. It was time her mother thought that she should get married. But Devika was quite reluctant to do so because she knew her mother was alone after her father expired and she couldn't leave her. She joined another firm which gave her better salary but this job was no less a struggle. She started working hard to prove herself but this male dominated society didn't allow her to do so and it was impossible for her to leave the job as it was for her family. It was for her mother.

It was time now that she had to decide to put her foot down against all this. She thought its high time to clarify the misconception people had about her. She cannot allow people to walk over her life, her condition, her future, her dreams, her opportunities and her career. It was time she stood for herself. It was time to make this society aware that a definition of a girl doesn't mean someone who is below their foot and dance like a puppet on what and how they say. It was time to change the definition.

She changed the job applied job and applied in Mumbai. She is also enrolled for further studies. According to Devika, Qualification is one weapon that can kill all evils. It was a violent decision in non-violent way. Her mother and herself shifted to Mumbai where she worked and studied together.

The people in new company were similar but her approach to them was different this time. She knew how to put her words and work forward. She worked hard but along with that she learnt diplomacy and politics to support her. Along with her qualification she felt that hard work, diplomacy and politics are also other 3 tyres to run her vehicle of life and career smoothly.

All that happened with her in these years after her father expired, She started gaining a sense of hatred for men and society. Though she was compelled by her mother yo get married. she denied. She had decided that once she reaches a level and she earns enough. She would need no man to support her in her life.

Five Yrs passed by and Devika turned 27 yrs. By now she completed her further studies and was appointed as Manager in a company. From a rented flat she shifted to her own flat. Today she had all the luxuries and a sound bank balance. She did what she wanted. She achieved what she promised to the society and herself.

Rohit Singhania, A business man was 30 yrs old, Mumbai based handsome guy, well educated and an eligible bachelor that every girl wished to marry. He was Phd from a renowned university. He had unapproachable and dominant personality, very adamant and shrude. But this personality was for strangers. People who knew him had completely different perception about him. For them he was kind hearted, soft spoken, smart and intelligent person. He helped kids in orphanage with necessities required by them. He was a very smart business man. He had a mother in his family who was most loving and caring lady. Rohit was a pampered child. Rohit's father and elder brother died in a car accident when he was 18 yrs old. Since then he handled his father's business and continued his studies. In these 12 yrs, profits of the business multiplied every year and in no time he was known as a youngest entrepreneur. He was known for his innovative ideas in business that helped him to be a foot forward than his competitors.

Rohit's firm was collaborating with a Finance company for which he had to attend the conference call in Delhi.

"Maa, I'll be fine" Devika said to her Mom. "I know I have never been alone away from you but this is my work. I have to go and don't worry I'll keep calling." She was gone.

She reached Delhi a day prior to the conference and she had booked a hotel for herself. As she was early she couldn't understand what she would do entire day. She got fresh and wore white salwar kameez and kept her hair open and a subtle make up. Along with that she wore pearl necklace and earrings that enhanced her beauty.

She glanced in the mirror once and realised that it had been ages she had dressed like that. She was working so hard that her feminine side was completely aloof from the world. She had a glow in her skin, her lips like petals and her eyes as deep as ocean.

She went downstairs to the hotel lawn where she sat for some snacks and drinks. Very beautiful and soft music was being played in the background. She felt this to be a perfect evening.

Rohit was staying in the same hotel where Devika was staying and he has come for the same conference. He entered the lawn and his eyes got locked with Devika's. He had not seen such a beauty. She was beautiful but was wondering how can a girl so beautiful be alone?

Devika was sitting in the corner of the lawn lost in her thoughts, her goals and her motives. She ignored the glance of Rohit and concentrated on her food and drinks. It was late that evening and all the guests had left the lawn but Rohit and Devika were still sitting there. Rohit had his eyes locked on Devika and Devika was lost in her thoughts. It was a perfect night mild cold breeze, soft music and two people perfectly compatible. Rohit wished he could dance with this beauty. He felt as if this was the girl he always longed for and he always waited for. She left the place after some time and walked down the lane which was quiet. Rohit followed her. She found the place and sat down on the stairs gazing up in the sky. How beautiful it looked with Full moon and stars around it. Rohit was amazed by her beauty she looked awesome in the moonlight. Suddenly she saw Rohit and was stunned. She got up and was about to run but Rohit stopped her.

"Dont run I won't harm you."

She didnt listen and started walking fast towards the hotel. Rohit tried to stop her but she ran away. He knew she stayed in the same hotel but was unaware which room she stayed niether he knew her name so that he could locate her.

It was too late and it was time for him to take rest as he had to attend the conference next day.

Next day he reached the conference where he had to sign the deal papers and announce his leadership to the existing employees of the company. As soon as he entered the conference room he saw Devika there. She was zapped to see him there. She was more shocked when she came to know that he was her new boss and she will have to work under him very soon. The thought of that made her sick inside.

As she was representing her company she had to hand over the agreement and other legal documents to Rohit. Rohit looked at her and gave a smile which she she didn't return. Rohit felt a hit because she was the first girl who didn't fall for him.

Rohit was resuming as a Chairperson of the new company in a week's time.

It was a new day, new week and Rohit was now a Chairperson of the new venture. He was about to lead team of new staff and new projects and new clients. It was a new challenge for him.

As soon as he entered office he first thought of going through the history of work that the company was dealing into and called for the manager with the files required.

He was glad to see Devika working for him but at a same time Devika didn't look much impressed with him.

Days passed by and work was progressing and so was Rohit's love for Devika. He felt she is the perfect match for her. She that one girl he always dreamt of.

It was Monday morning new day new week and Devika for the first time didn't feel like going to work after a weekend. She felt like relaxing. Be alone for sometime.

While she was alone, she started analyzing her life. What she was and what she is now. She thought about Rohit and wondered why she always avoided him. Is it because she didn't wanted to leave her mother or is it because she was scared, she won't be able to handle responsibilities like her father? But Rohit was well settled and he would hold the responsibilities of the family well. He liked her but she was uncertain that he loved her. She didnt have courage to ask him this.

Days passed by and their love for each other increased but they did not confess each other. Devika's mom was eager for her to get married. She thought, now that Devika is well settled she should get married. Devika agreed to her mom as she felt that it is time to get settled. It is time to have stable life but she loved Rohit. On the other hand, Rohit confessed his love to his best friend that he loved Devika. His friend told him that he should go and tell her but Rohit was scared as he couldn't afford to lose her.

One evening, It was raining very heavily and Devika was standing waiting for the bus. Rohit saw her and offered her lift in his car. Devika accepted the offer and sat in his car. Devika looked very beautiful. She looked liked an angel. Her hair wet and she looked perfect.

Rohit thought of proposing her the very moment but he thought this not the right time. A proposal should have a perfect moment. A romantic candle light dinner at a beach would be perfect.
Next day, Rohit planned a perfect date in the evening after office for Devika. He made arrangements on the beach. Two chairs and a table covered with white linen under a tent which had red colour cloth. There were Red candles and a Flower vase with roses in it. There were musicians with a violin for soft music and a ring which he held in his hand. He was waiting for Devika.
As soon as Devika got down from the car which he had sent to pick her up. She stepped on the Red carpet on the floor. She started walking towards Rohit with butterflies in her stomach. She looed gorgeous. She wore Black Churidar with long black earings dangling down her ears, she wore bangles and her hair was open. With perfect make up for the evening she looked stunning.
She reached where Rohit was standing. The look on her face clearly asked many questions to Rohit. Rohit understood her expression and without any delay he held out the ring in his hand and sat down on his right knee and said, " Devika, Every time I look at you I fall in love with you again and again and again.. Please be mine forever".
Devika was speechless. She had no words to express what she felt. She loved him but was scared to tell him and now this man is standing in front of her with a ring in her hand. She would accept, ofcourse she would.
She knelt down in front of him and cried out loud and hugged him. She accepted his marriage proposal. She was happy that she was with a man who was responsible, caring and too loving and she would give her life for his happiness.
